Music and Choirs

St. Augustine said: “to sing is to pray twice”. Music at all our Sunday Masses is highly valued. The musical facilities of the parish are supported and enhanced by many singers and instrumentalists.

As well as the choirs listed below, the parish has a variety of choirs including the 9 a.m. Choir, the Student Choir and the Filipino Choir. St. Edmund’s has a Walker organ, which was built in 1874 and contains 70 stops, over 2,500 pipes and is one of the largest in the City of Southampton.

St. Edmund’s 11 a.m. Choir

This choir consists of approximately 20 people who lead the singing at the 11 a.m. Mass at St Edmund's and on major feast days. New members are always welcome.
